Beanbag Love

I read. I write. I talk about reading and writing. That is when I'm not driving kids somewhere or teaching them. Married, educated, domesticated. I really enjoy the friends I've met through a variety of different message boards and venues regarding reading and authors. I try to take a positive view when I write reviews but sometimes I can't. Those times are few and far between, but they do exist. I'm mostly an old softy, though. I think so anyway.

Untamed - Pamela Clare I really liked this story. Morgan and Amalie are great leads, even though I sometimes worried she was going to become TSTL or mewling. She didn't. She reasoned things out and came to correct conclusions almost every time. And had incredible faith in Morgan.

Usually I know pretty much how a story is going to work itself out. There may be a few surprises here and there, but mostly I know the path it's going to go. I really didn't know what was going to happen next with this, and yet, every part of the story was organic. One thing led logically to the next, even though I couldn't predict each step. It was nice to see that, since romance writers often think they're 'changing things up' when they add in bizarre plot twists. Often the most believable thing can still be surprising and it's always the most satisfying.

I liked revisiting the other characters. Connor, Wentworth, Iain, Annie, Joseph, the Rangers. My one complaint is that Clare doesn't seem to have written any more of this series, and I'm needing more. Grrr.

In any case, I'm glad I took my fellow readers' advice and started reading Pamela Clare's excellent books. I'm going to keep going, and hoping for the next installment in the MacKinnon saga because there are several stories still to be told.

I definitely recommend Clare for people who want a refreshing historical with plenty of adventure and a bit of intrigue. I will read her contemporaries as well since they are also highly recommended by my fellow booklovers. I don't expect to be disappointed.
